Gabriel Chase Wallace
June 23 2006 - March 10 2010
This online memorial was created in loving memory of Gabriel Wallace, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website. Please sign Gabriel's guest book and let us know you came to visit. We will remember Gabriel forever.
Here is his Caringbridge site that I started in June 2008...the day before Gabriel's 2nd birthday. I am still journaling in it. www.caringbridge.org/visit/gabrielwallace
What can I say about Gabe?... He was such a neat little boy. He had this catagious smile, I call it 'a Gabe famous smile' When he smiled it seemed that the smile lit up his whole face. His smile always consisted of him opening his mouth wide.
In July 2009 we got the great opportunity to go to Florida compliments of Make a Wish foundation of Michigan. I was a little nervous because we had never traveled with Gabe and I didn't know what to expect. But we had a wonderful time and we will hold the memories we made with our son in our heart forever. Since Gabriel was non verbal I can't be sure if he had a favorite thing to do, but I know that we enjoyed going on the Kilamanjaro Safari with him.. we went on that about 3 times. Gabe laughed. I also know that it was so cool to actually go to Sea World with our little water baby (Gabe loved water) We saw the Shamoo show. We got a family photo taken (it was taken as a "Shark Attack")
We stayed at Give Kids the World village and had a wonderful time. The staff there were so nice to us (and to all their guests) We took Gabe for walks around the village. We watched the kids play "Candyland" with some storybook characters. Santa came to the village on Thursday and we celebrated Christmas in July!
Gabriel even loved the airplane ride there and back. I can't say the same thing about my husband...he didn't care for the plane :) Robert never rode on an airplane before.
When we landed in South Bend Indiana we couldn't pull into the bay to unload the plane so we had to all get off in the parking lot. The stairs were so high and I was struggling to even figure out how to attempt to get off the plane holding my 25 lb little boy and a bag or two (Robert had the carseat and another bigger bag)There was a nice lady that couldn't take her eyes off Gabriel, she said how sweet he was and just fussed over his cuteness. She helped me get Gabe off the plane. She held his legs while I had the rest of him. It felt so right to have this kind of help. I knew my son had touched a lot of people on that plane, including the pilot! I am forever greatful to the staff and guests of the airplane and everywhere we went while on this vacation.
Less than a year later my son was gone.
